Bayern Munich are champions of Germany after a dramatic day, which saw them win the title for the 11th time in a row. Thomas Tuchel’s men started the day in second, two points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund, so The Bvarians needed to win and hope Mainz05 did them a favour.

In the end, that’s how it turned out as the ninth-placed German side raced into a two-goal lead. In between the two goals, Dortmund were awarded a penalty, which crucially they missed. What could have been 1-1, turned into 2-0 when Karim Onisiwo scored.

What made matters worse was that Bayern were doing what they needed to do and were a goal up against Koln, Kingsley Coman grabbed the early goal. The champions thought they went 2-0 up, only for the goal to be ruled out.

It remained 1-0 in Koln. Spurred on by that BVB pulled a goal back, but as much as they tried they were only able to get a second goal in injury time. Sadly, this proved too little, too late, as Bayern Munich through Jamaal Musiala scored a late winner, to ensure the title stays at The Allianz Arena.

This result was hard on Dortmund, who piled on the pressure against the mid-table side, but cruelly it wasn’t to be for them and striker Haller, whose penalty miss was crucial in the result of the game.

Painfully Borussia Dortmund might not get a chance as good as this, especially if the rumours are to be believed. Several reports are reporting that star midfielder is due to depart Sigunda Park and join Real Madrid in a deal worth £87 million plus add-ons.
