A good win for Dillian Whyte in this contest in Gibraltar as the 32-year old reignited his world title shot hopes. As for Povetkin, the 39-year old before this one had only lost to Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko in 39 fights.
A third defeat for the Russian, is arguably put an end to any lingering world title shot hopes. As for Whyte, although it will be difficult for the Jamaican born fighter to get an immediate title shot, especially with Joshua, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder dictating the running order in the division currently – at least Whyte can be involved in this conversation somewhere down the line.
