Four games remain for most teams in the second tier of English football as the nerve-racking stage really begins until the end of the season.

The action kicked off on Friday night where relegation battlers West Brom hosted promotion contenders Millwall at The Hawthorns.

Both teams shared a point as the match ended in a 0-0 draw, making it hard to decide if the result is good enough in their respected battles.

On Saturday, the East Anglian derby saw Ipswich Town earn a 2-0 victory away against Norwich City as The Tractor Boys are two points clear of third with two games-in-hand.

The league leaders Coventry City could not convert against bottom of the league Sheffield Wednesday as the match remarkably ended in a goalless draw.

Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City also drew 0-0 to share a point as Roy Hodgson remain unbeaten in his second managerial stint with The Robins.

Oxford United claimed an important 2-0 win over Watford as Matt Bloomfield’s side are a point from safety and unbeaten their last three matches.

Leicester City are in deeper water, following their 1-0 loss against Swansea City as Championship top scorer Zan Vipotnik scored the only goal to increase The Foxes worries.

Blackburn Rovers bagged an important point against Stoke City, drawing 1-1 which did involve a red card for the home side as Ashley Phillips was sent off.

Southampton came from a goal down to defeat play-off rivals Derby County 2-1 as The Saints are now positioned fifth in the table.

Conor Chaplin provided a crucial goal and a shocking moment in Portsmouth’s 1-0 away win against Middlesbrough, scoring in the 97th minute to keep Pompey outside the relegation zone while slimming Boro’s promotion chances.

Sheffield United scored twice within three minutes late on to defeat 10-man Hull City 2-1 as former Blades player John Lundstram was sent off in the 75th minute, potentially costing Jakirovic’s team the game.

Preston North End extended their unbeaten streak to four as they defeated Charlton Athletic 2-1, leaving The Addicks five points from safety and winless in five.

Finally, on Sunday, Birmingham City returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Wrexham which may have cost the Welsh side a chance at play-offs.
