The men in green, after a very disappointing World Cup campaign, have picked a relatively inexperienced squad. Sure, there are some experienced players such as Mohammed Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Faheem Ashraf, and Salman Ali Agha, but players like Ghazi Ghori and Maz Sadaaqat are fresh talent.

Whether successful or not, in this tour of Bangladesh and Pakistan, since they have decided to go down this route, they need to be patient and persevere. Mike Hesson and Afridi have been tasked with putting together a side that is competitive enough to perform on the World Cup stage.

To achieve this, they can’t keep chopping and changing. Pakistan will also need to make big calls. Dropping Babar isn’t one of them, but maybe consider Haris Rauf’s role in the team. The Lahore Qalandar pacer is brilliantly good on some days and terribly bad on others.

Can team PK take a risk on such inconsistency? If the past is anything to go by, then they will say yes. If they stick with a plan, Pakistan can build something wonderful.

They have some wonderful talent in the country, they have brilliant bowlers, batsmen and wicket-keepers too, but they still can’t get it right when it comes to building the team. This is their problem; they’re too loyal to certain talent.

Other countries won’t be quite as lenient toward poor performances. Just one thing to remember, if things go pear-shaped, don’t blame Barbar. Beautiful things take time to grow.
