The second tier of English football continues to leave fans guessing where their supported teams will finish at the end of the season as each game become more important.

The first clash happened on Tuesday night as Ipswich Town and Hull City went head-to-head at Portman Road to play one of their games in-hand.

‘The Tractor Boys’ took the three points after a brilliant strike from Azor Matusiwa which keeps Kieran McKenna’s men in the race for automatic promotion.

On Friday night, Oxford United earned a vital 3-1 victory at Deepdale Stadium against Preston North End in their quest for survival in the Championship.

Moving on to Saturday, Connor Ogilvie thought he’d won three points for Portsmouth but a 93rd minute equaliser from Hayden Carter rescued a point for Blackburn Rovers in a 1-1 draw.

Millwall’s performance was not at their best, but they still managed to conjure up a 3-1 victory against Hull City as they became a strong contender for the top two.

George Campbell broke the deadlock for Sheffield United with an own goal, but redeemed himself later with one for West Brom to earn a point at Bramall Lane.

Charlie Kellman’s 74th-minute strike gave Charlton three important points to extend their gap from the relegation zone in a 1-0 win against Birmingham City.

Derby County remain on the hunt for the play-offs as they salvaged a 2-1 win at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Ipswich Town could only claim a point against Leicester City as ‘The Foxes’ stay in the relegation zone from their 1-1 draw.

Swansea City took advantage of Sorba Thomas’ red card in the 36th minute to secure a 2-0 victory against Stoke City, as Zan Vipotnik remains the Championship’s top scorer.

Coventry City maintained their comfortable position at the top of the table with a 2-0 win against Bristol City, despite both teams playing with 10 men after 56 minutes.

On Sunday, Middlesbrough earned a dominant win away at Loftus Road as they thumped Queens Park Rangers 4-0 to place themselves four points clear from second place.
