Glasgow was more than ready to host the third night of the BetMGM Premier League as the Scottish crowd was electric throughout the event.
The only downside was Michael van Gerwen withdrawing from this week’s action due to illness, meaning his scheduled opponent Luke Littler got a free pass to the semi-final.
Stephen Bunting and Gian van Veen kicked things off at the OVO Hydro as the Dutchman cruised to a 6-3 victory, despite The Bullet’s attempt to make a comeback.
Luke Humphries arguably threw the best darts in the quarter-final stage when he defeated Josh Rock 6-2, earning an average of 105.95.
In an all-Welsh matchup, Jonny Clayton managed to beat Gerwyn Price for the first time in three years as he knocked out The Iceman to win 6-3.
In the first semi-final, it was a close and intriguing match between The Giant and Humphries as despite Cool Hand claiming more 180s and a higher average, van Veen edged a 6-5 triumph.
The Ferret was one fire when he faced Littler in the last four, surprisingly defeating The Nuke 6-1 as his scoring and finishing was consistently clinical.
In the final, van Veen simply could not compete with the former Premier League Champion as Clayton won the night with a 6-2 victory, ending the final leg with a fantastic 156 checkout.
It was a hugely successful performance for the 51-year-old as he rises to the top of the standings with a fascinating leg difference of 15.
Next Thursday, Night Four will be hosted at the SSE Arena Belfast as Rock will be hoping to claim his first win of the competition in his home territory.
