Darts’ biggest competition has been nothing but a joy to watch as we’ve seen incredible walk-outs, checkouts and performances.

However, on Sunday Night in the second round, former world champion and #9 ranked player Gerwyn Price was knocked out in a 3-0 loss to the #92 ranked Wesley Plaisier.

That hasn’t been the only biggest upset as plenty more have happened in this tournament.

Former World Champion and Premier League winner Raymond van Barneveld was knocked out of the first round after losing 3-0 to the #111 Stefan Bellmont.

Nitin Kumar became the first Indian player to advance to the second round of the PDC World Championship after beating the #48 ranked Richard Veenstra 3-2.

The #12 Ross Smith surprisingly exited the first round after losing 3-2 to the #114 Andreas Harryson.

Former World Grand Prix Champion Mike De Decker couldn’t believe it when he lost 3-2 to the unranked Kenyan, David Munyua.

20-year-old Charlie Manby booked himself into the second round after beating the #26 Cameron Menzies with the result bringing out a fiery reaction from the Scotsman.

Dimitri Van den Bergh performed awfully which saw his exit in the first round against Darren Beveridge who won 3-0 as the Belgian only won one leg.

Kim Huybrechts couldn’t compete with the #163 darts player Arno Merk who arguably earned the biggest win of his career, triumphing 3-1 in the match.

Joe Comito pulled off a fascinating upset as the unranked Australian defeated #52 Niko Springer 3-1 in a close, contested matchup without throwing a single 180.

Another former world champion was knocked out in round two as 2023 winner Michael Smith suffered a 3-1 defeat to #62 ranked Niels Zonneveld.

The second round is still being played and will have finished by Tuesday Night for the short Christmas break as there are plenty of shocks and thrills that still await in the competition.
