The UFC saw its last PPV of the year which brought a lot of thrilling action for MMA fans in Las Vegas.
The event witnessed some key moments in the flyweight division which included a second-round TKO win from Tatsuro Taira, defeating Brandon Moreno, although many believed the stoppage was premature.
The co-main event ended in unfortunate fashion as Joshua Van did become the new king of the 125lbs division, however, this was because Alexandre Pantoja dislocated his shoulder 26 seconds into the scheduled five-round bout.
But, it was the headliner that capped off the night as Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili went the distance with the Russian winning the bantamweight title.
It was a long-awaited rematch which finally happened as in the first matchup, Dvalishvili dominated with his constant pressure and takedown attempts.
This time, Yan easily contested with the Georgian with his slick boxing and takedown defence which allowed him to pick up a very convincing unanimous decision win.
‘No Mercy’ has had one incredibly redeeming journey from when he first lost the bantamweight title at UFC 259, waiting four years to successfully regain the undisputed championship.
It’s likely that we will see a trilogy between the two top-tier 135lbs fighters, it’s just a question of when it will take place as UFC 324, UFC 325 and UFC 326’s main events have all been confirmed for 2026.
