UFC 322 was an event to remember for plenty of MMA fans as history was made in the headliner.
Islam Makhachev became the 11th UFC fighter to win a title in two weight classes, picking up the welterweight title after defeating Jack Della Maddalena by unanimous decision.
The Dagestan mixed martial artist dominated on the ground with the Australian which allowed him to win all five rounds in the championship fight.
It’s unknown who will be Makhachev’s first challenger for the 170lbs belt as there are a lot of possible title contenders.
In the same event, Michael Morales stopped Sean Brady by first-round TKO to enter the top three of the division, potentially giving him the next title shot.
Also, Carlos Prates knocked out former champion, Leon Edwards, in round two as he boosts up to the top five in hopes to have a crack for the championship.
Other possible challengers include the likes of Kamaru Usman, Shavkat Rakhmonov and the winner of UFC Qatar’s co-main event between Belal Muhammad and Ian Machado Garry which takes place next week.
The new King of the Welterweights has plenty of options as fans will hope he will defend the title as soon as possible with the division arguably becoming the most exciting in the UFC.
