The European Championship made its presence in Germany and gave plenty of cracking darts matches.
However, someone unexpected won the event as Luke Humphries and Gian van Veen squared off in the final.
Humphries came from 8-6 behind to defeat Danny Noppert 11-8 to progress into the final, hoping to claim his fifth title of the year.
‘The Giant’ defeated fellow Dutchman, Michael van Gerwen, in the semi-final in what was a back-and-forth game with the former World Youth Champion winning 11-9.
The finale came down to a deciding leg in what was a very tense point for the darts players.
‘Cool Hand Luke’ missed a big opportunity to checkout 69, missing his third dart for double 20.
The 23-year-old managed to keep his cool as he checked out 100 to win the match and the title.
There’s no doubt van Veen is a big prospect as after his first major win in the sport, he will be hunting for more glory in the future.
