An eye-catching major tournament began for Darts as the World Series Finals kicked off this evening.
In the round of 32, there were plenty of Dutch and English players competing for a higher chance of becoming the champion.
It’s fair to say that there was not many games that delivered dominants as some of the favourites to win the tournament struggled to find success.
Here are all the results from the first night of the World Series Finals.
The tournament started off with an all-Netherlands matchup between Kevin Doets and Jermaine Wattimena as ‘Hawkeye’ managed to win 6-5.
World Cup of Darts Champion, Josh Rock, defeated Krzysztof Ratajski 6-3, making it his ninth victory in just the space of two weeks.
Damon Heta cruised his way to the next round after the Australian secured a 6-1 triumph over Joe Cullen.
2024 World Grand Prix Champion, Mike De Decker, gave Gabriel Clemens his fourth consecutive loss after defeating the German 6-3.
James Wade almost pulled off an incredible turn-a-round, leading 5-4 against Luke Humphries, before the Newbury-born player won the last two legs to secure a spot in the last 16.
Speaking of close calls, Michael van Gerwen came from behind to win 6-5 against fellow Dutchman, Wessel Nijman.
World #4, Stephen Bunting, was knocked out of the World Series Finals after suffering a 6-4 defeat to Danny Noppert.
Finally, despite throwing less 180’s, Rob Cross proved why he was a huge favourite against Haupai Puha, defeating the New Zealand Darts Player 6-3.
