The Premier League is not shy of providing eye-catching entertainment, especially when it comes to late winners.
Monday Night’s game between was nothing but an early contender for Match of the Season.
Newcastle United hosted Liverpool in just their second league game.
Arne Slot’s side beat Bournemouth 4-2 in the opening game, while the Magpies were held to a 1-1 draw away at Aston Villa.
The game began with Newcastle United coming close with a couple of opportunities, looking like the team that would break that deadlock.
However, in the 35th minute, Ryan Gravenberch’s strike from outside the box took Liverpool into the lead.
Things would only get worse for Eddie Howe as Anthony Gordon was sent off late into stoppage time of the first half, leaving the home side with 10 men.
Just 20 seconds into the second half, Liverpool extended their lead after a well-placed strike from Hugo Ekitike.
Eleven minutes later, the underdogs earned one goal back as Valentina Livramento’s cross found the head of Bruno Guimaraes to put Newcastle back in the game.
Despite the red card, there was still belief for the Geordie fans as they weren’t backing down without a fight.
In the 88th minute, a long kick up the pitch from Nick Pope bounced just outside the Liverpool’s box, towards the path of William Osula.
The Dane just needed one touch to slot the ball past Alisson and equalise for the Magpies, making it Osula’s second goal for Newcastle after two season with the club.
However, if there is one league that can present the most drama, it’s certainly the top division of English Football.
With one minute of stoppage time left to play of the 11 minutes given, the Reds snatched the win in a thrilling end to the game.
Mohamed Salah played a ground pass into the box, finding 16-year-old, Rio Ngumoha, who curled in his effort at the far post to win the match.
Of course, it was an unfortunate event for Newcastle fans, but you cannot take away their hard-working performance. Comparing it to Liverpool who didn’t look like deserving winners when looking at the game and statistics.
