Former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade has announced that he will be retiring from international cricket. Wade, 36, will still play franchise cricket and is expected to lead the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL.

Alongside his franchise commitments, Wade will take up a coaching role with the Australian men’s team and will be involved in next month’s series with Pakistan. In all, Matthew Wade played 92 T20Is for his country, scoring 1202 runs in 68 innings, at an average of 26.13.

The left-hander was part of the victorious Australian T20 side in 2021 that won the World Cup. Wade made a crucial innings in the semi-final win over Pakistan.
