It was news that we brought to you a week prior, but it’s now been confirmed that Bologna have allowed their manager Thiago Motta to leave the club. Motta, who was a Brazilian-born Italy international joins Juventus for next season.
The Old Lady arguably have caught the bug of wanting to fire an experienced manager and hire a younger one. Former manager Allegri counts himself hard done by.
Allegri did nothing wrong, arguably just like he didn’t in his first stint as boss. Before the phase that clubs were going through was to hire club legends. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man United, Frank Lampard at Chelsea and Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Of those examples, it’s only the latter that’s still in work at the same football club. Football is forever evolving and clubs hiring young managers with something to prove is the new rage at the moment.
That’s all fair and well, but don’t forget the seasoned pro managers too. After all, society says you should respect your elders, in this sense, football should too because having the experience of some of these men who are out of work will be no doubt a good thing.
