After guiding Ipswich to back-to-back promotions manager Kieran McKenna is expected to reject a new contract with The Tractor Boys as per the BBC. McKenna who was a coach at Man United under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has put a good portion of league on notice after the news emerged of his decision.

The Northern Irishman who was born in London is a boyhood United fan and with this news now emerging his former club could act and sack Erik Ten Haag. Kieran McKenna has been linked with Brighton and Chelsea in recent days after Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino left their respective roles.

There are several contenders for the Chelsea job now that it’s available and there will be managers who will be interested in the United job if that becomes available.

With unbeaten Bundesliga-winning manager Xabi Alonso staying at Bayer Leverkusen for at least one more season, the news Kieran McKenna wants a new challenge will affect the thinking of at least Brighton, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Other clubs might try to make a move for the 38-year-old, but that appears to be seen. As for his current club, it’s hard to see past Welshman Steve Cooper who did a good job with Nottingham Forest before he was harshly sacked.

Tony Mowbray would have been a good manager to come in, but the experienced manager is taking time away from the game, owing to his health. Get well soon Tony!

It’s easy for us football observers and fans to make a judgement, but I think he will want to manage his boyhood club Manchester United. In his time at Old Trafford as a coach, there were a lot of things said about him, no doubt that he would find hurtful.

Kieran McKenna being the man he is, will no doubt want to challenge himself and prove people wrong. With the way Chelsea and Manchester United are run at the moment, I just feel these potential opportunities have come too soon.

Please for the love of God, I hope it’s not going to be a case of Graham Potter 2.0.
