Former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders has been named as the new RB Salzburg boss. The 41-year-old who joined The Reds in 2014, will leave Anfield this summer to join the Austrian side in the summer, on a three-year deal.
Lijnders is in his second spell coaching the Carabao Cup winners. There had been speculation that the Dutchman would be offered the manager’s position, but Pep Lijnders’ compatriot Arne Slot looks all set to be the new manager at Anfield.
Liverpool’s current assistant coach did manage NEC Nijmegen in his homeland but would leave his role and swiftly return to his now-current job, as the assistant manager of The Reds. Ljinders will be joined by development coach Vitor Matos in the Austrian top-flight team as his assistant manager.
