Former Blackburn striker Ben Brereton Diaz has become the first signing in boss Chris Wilder’s second spell, after he signed the 24-year-old on loan from Villareal, until the end of the season.
Diaz, who was prolific in his final season with Rovers scoring 22 goals, has yet to score for The Yellow Submarine to date.
After long being linked with the Premier League, Chile International has made the move to the English top flight.
The challenge won’t be easy as he will be joining a side who have scored a League-low 15 goals. To put this into some sort of context, Cameron Archer is their joint-top scorer with two.
Providing international clearance is achieved, Stoke-born Brereton Diaz could make his debut in Saturday’s FA Cup third-round tie at Gillingham (15:00 GMT).
