Bryce Harper wants a contract extension so he stays with the Philadelphia Phillies forever, but should he get a contract extension? Let’s take a look at both sides.

If he gets a contract extension right now…

1. He will be able to stay with the Phillies forever
2. At the end of his contract he wouldn’t have to worry about hitting Free Agency right away
3. He gets more money and more years to play which is what he and his agent wants

If he doesn’t get a contract extension right now

1. He still has a long term contract so he still has time to get a possible contract extension
2. He may get more money and more years
3. He still doesn’t have to worry about testing out the Free Agent Market
4. He will still be with the Phillies for a long time

If he doesn’t get a contract extension at all

1. At the end of his contract he will have to hit free agency
2. He might not get more money/years from the Phillies
3. They might need to have a different DH
4. The Phillies might lose their 2021 MVP
