Former AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali has been banned by the Italian Football Federation for
10 months.
The summer signing for Newcastle from AC Milan for £55 million, will not be eligible to play again until August and will be unavailable to feature at Euro 2024 next summer should Italy qualify.
Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has received a seven-month ban. On-loan Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo were pulled from training with the national team when these charges came to light.
Tonali 23, has been superb since joining The Magpies. This ban for the Italian, on the pitch will be a big blow for both club and player.
This latest ban for a player being found guilty of betting breaches only shows the flaws of the current rules in place.
