Chelsea’s summer-long pursuit of Moises Caicedo is over after The Blues agreed to a £115 deal for the Ecuador international.

Caicedo who publicly declared he wanted to move from Brighton now has his wish. It’s been barely a week since Liverpool had their bid accepted by The Seagulls.

With Jurgen Klopp’s agreeing a deal for Moises Caicedo’s teammate Alexis Mac Allister, then you would be forgiven for thinking that The Reds might hold the edge in taking this deal over the line.

But the selling club is Brighton we are talking about. They could sell sand in the desert and people will buy it.

Both Moises Caicedo and Brighton wanted a Chelsea transfer. This is my personal opinion, my reasoning is twofold. The first reason is that the player wanted West London club Chelsea.

Secondly, it appeared that Chelsea were willing to bid what it takes to get the Ecuadorian, whereas Liverpool had their limit.

It’s not often that Liverpool lose out in the battle to sign a player. This latest snub however means that The Reds’ pursuit of a central midfielder rumbles on.

Chelsea now hold the unique record of breaking the British transfer record twice in 2023. The Blues first did so when they signed Enzo Fernandez.

Just when the football world thought, just maybe the transfer window is quieting down, then news like this emerges.
